How To Promote a Product As An Influencer

Being an influencer is not just about how many followers you have. That’s a common misconception that I think a lot of people have. As I’ll explain in this post, it’s really more about how well you are able to promote products to your social networks. Each of your social profiles gives you a unique platform to share your content and discuss products. And with these platforms at your fingertips, there is a lot you can do to both make money AND grow your audience simultaneously.

Offer something of value.

Whether you’re an influencer or a business owner, you need to make sure that the product you’re promoting is relevant and useful. If you can’t do that, then you won’t be able to convince anyone else to make the purchase.

You also need to be authentic in your approach. If you’re just trying to sell them on a product because you think they’ll buy it, they’ll see right through it. Instead, focus on helping them find what they need and want—and then offer them a way to get it without having to go through all that hassle themselves.

Know your demographics.

When you’re starting out as an influencer, it’s easy to get caught up in the excitement of having so many people looking up to you and listening to what you have to say. But before you start promoting products on your feed, it’s important to know who your audience is and what they want from you.

If your following is mostly made up of mums, then they’ll probably be interested in seeing product endorsements that help them get their kids ready for bed more easily or help them keep their kitchen clean while they’re cooking dinner. If your following is mostly made up of young professionals, then they’ll probably be interested in seeing product endorsements that make their lives easier at work—like a new laptop bag or a great pair of shoes for the office.

Have a clear idea of what you want to achieve.

If you’re promoting a product, make sure that your audience will be receptive to it. If you’re promoting a personal brand, make sure that your audience wants to learn about your life and that it’s relevant to them.

Know who your audience is and what they want from you. You may not always be able to give them exactly what they want, but at least try to understand what they expect from you.

Be consistent with the content that you create and share. The best way to build an audience is by posting consistently—once or twice a day is best! If your audience knows when they can expect new content from you, they will look forward to seeing it every time.

Timing, timing, timing.

You may have a great idea for a product and you may be excited about it, but if you’re not promoting at the right time, no one will even know about it.

If you’re looking for the best times to post about your product, here are some tips:

-Look at what other influencers do on social media to see when they post their promotions. Do they post at night or during the day? Do they tend to promote during the week or on weekends? By studying how these other influencers promote their products and services, you can get an idea of what is most effective and when.

-Think about who your audience is and when they’re likely to be online. If your audience works during the day while you’re sleeping, then posting late at night won’t work very well for them—and vice versa! Knowing when your target audience is online will help you craft posts that will resonate with them and get more engagement from them.

Establish a relationship with the brand.

As an influencer, you’ll probably be approached by brands asking you to promote their products. This can be a great way to make money, but it’s also important to remember that your followers will trust you more if they know you’re being honest and genuine. If they see that you’re promoting something because you genuinely love it, then they’ll be more likely to buy it themselves—and that’s where your money comes from!

The best way to establish a relationship with a brand is by following them on social media. When they see that you’re engaging with them and being thoughtful about their content, they’ll be more likely to approach you about working together.

Promote products you use and love.

Let me be frank: I’m not a fan of the word “promote.” It has a negative connotation like you’re trying to sell someone something they don’t need.

But if you’re an influencer, the word is essential! Because what we all want to do is promote products that we use and love. That way, we can make sure that our audience knows about the best products in their space, and they can get a feel for who we are as people as well as what we have to offer them.

So how do you actually go about promoting products? Here’s a step-by-step guide:

1. Find a product you actually like using (and preferably one that others will like using too).

2. Use it yourself! You don’t have to tell anyone about it—in fact, it’s better if you don’t. Just make sure you’re using it every day so that when people ask where they can find something similar or if they should try out this new thing, you’ll have an honest answer for them based on experience.

3. If someone asks about the product or mentions wanting to buy it, give them your honest opinion! Don’t just say “They’re great” and leave it at that.

Do it in the right format.

You can promote a product as an influencer in a variety of ways, but there’s one thing you need to keep in mind: the format. It’s important to do it in the right format.

First, take into account whether your audience is primarily on Instagram, Snapchat, or Facebook. Whichever platform is most relevant and popular for your target audience is the one you should use for your campaign.

Second, think about the content you’ll be posting. You can post a variety of things—from long-form content like blogs and podcasts to short-form content like Instagram stories or Vine videos—but whatever you choose needs to be engaging and interesting enough to get people’s attention.

Third, make sure that your posts are timely, so they aren’t lost in the shuffle of other posts related to the product being promoted.

Takeaway

The best way to promote a product is to genuinely like it and believe in it. This will allow your excitement to show regardless of where you are promoting, be it on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, or Instagram. If you are enthusiastic about the product, other people will be more inclined to buy it.
